Nostalgic for Spring

Yesterday my friend Jolene & I actually got to work outside! Well to be fair I worked (painting furniture) out in the sun while Jolene worked (sanding furniture) in the shed with the door open. She was sanding a large and heavy china cabinet for a client and we really didn't want to haul it outside.

Well today is supposed to be another fabulous day in the 40's and I have to work a double bartending & what I would really love to do is to play in the garden! Oh well you can't have it all. But to make myself feel better I decided to dig out a couple of photos from last year......

Think Spring! Old apple trees here at The Plenty To Do Farm

Happy Birthday Madeline!

Last night we took Lil' Miss Moo to a fancy restaurant for her birthday. She knew the night was all about her (as any rightful woman should)! She had a great time & so did we. We went to the Black Hawk Tavern in Wiscasset on Rt.1, run by my sister & brother in law. ALWAYS yummy!

Madeline was helping Charlene who was working that night "wait on tables" and Charlene was taking it all in stride...she's a Hot Shit!

Well off to paint some furniture! Have 8 pieces to finish for various customers & am lucky enough to have my friend Jolene coming over to SAND, SAND, SAND. I don't know how she does it, but I'm not complaining!

Pic. of Miss Maddy last summer...she's 2 today!

She's such a Queen!

I just wanted to give a little credit to the first Blogs that I ever came across, back when I had no idea what a blog was. I will slowly add my favorites as I come across them, but the 4 that I have listed as of today have been 4 of my faves! So Crafty family & friends, click on any of these links and hopefully you will find the photography, crafts, recipes & journals as fun as I do!

Not Martha is the Queen of blogging! Why search endlessly for interesting sites on the internet when all you have to do is check her out and let her guide you from one fun site to another?! Not only is she informative, but she's one hell of a crafty gal as well! Check out her marble magnets that some of us have not been able to stop doing (Kissa). That's where I got the idea from you know!

French Toast Girl is wonderfully creative & I love her illustations! I just only recently came across her. Where else can you find an adorable paper doll that you can dress via internet OR print for your own personal use? (the lil' girl comes out in me) Though I haven't tried it yet, thought it might be fun to print her paper doll on magnetic paper for the fridge. I think my niece Madeline might like that!

ljc kind of reminds me of myself living in NY instead of Maine! Check out all of the pictures of her house...one painted room after another & you'll know what I mean! And she loves to share recipes...Hmmm...sounds like a girl after my own heart!

Loobylu makes me smile! If you're having a bad day, click onto Loobylu and take a looksie at her gorgeuos illustrations and you'll know what I mean! Her writing is thoughtful and intuitive!

SOOOOOOO....eventually I would like to get my Blog to be as fun, witty & creative as a few of these gals. Considering this is only my 4th post and I have no freakin' idea what I'm doing (help me Bethie...help), I may have a ways to go. But I promise I will try not to bore you and eventually start adding arts n crafts, recipes, pics. etc.! Jes

Quick Salmon Recipe

I love salmon...Hubby Jon doesn't, so when we have "fish night" Jon has a piece of haddock that he pan fries mercilessly and I buy myself a BIG hunk of salmon so they'll be plenty of leftovers for the next day.....

Basically I bake a piece of salmon w/ whatever I have on hand. You just can't seem to mess this stuff up! Here's what I did last night, not only was it easy, it was UMMM UMMM GOOD......

  1. One big hunk of salmon (buy extra for a big salad the next day)
  2. 1/2 of a lemon, squeeze for juice
  3. 3-4 tbs. chopped fresh cilantro
  4. 1/4 cup sliced mushrooms (any kind should do)
  5. 1/8-1/4 cup crumbled feta
  6. dash olive oil
  7. sprinkle sea salt
  8. sprinkle black pepper

Heat oven 375. Place your salmon in tin foil for easy clean up OR in a baking dish. Throw all ingredients on top. If using tin foil pull it up around salmon making it like a boat. Throw it in the oven and about 35 minutes later VOILA. Yummy and easy!

Hubby was feeling a little creative last night with his pan seared haddock and of course I had to steal a bite and was pretty impressed! His sister came by with the kids the other night and brought with her their usual little tupperware container of munchies. Well if you're a Cheez-it fan like my extended family seems to be than you MUST try out the newest Cheez-it Twister Hot wings and Blue cheese. (ADDICTIVE!) What does this have to do with creative haddock?

  1. Smear mayo all over haddock
  2. Put some flour on a plate...add salt & pepper. Finely crush about 10 of those new Cheez-it Twisters and add to flour mixture.
  3. Dredge haddock in flour mixture and pan fry in a small amount of oil.

Well I was impressed anyway....

Oh, how I loved Quebec City!

Back in the fall my friend Judy & I took a trip to Quebec City and had a ball. What I did not realize is that it only takes 4 hours to get to Quebec City from our humble little abode here in Maine."Why had I never been here before?" I'd cry over & over again. Not only was the route going through Maine gorgeous (it was leaf peeping season you know) BUT the trip & directions to get there were pretty straightforward. Hell, we only got turned around once!

Anyone that knows me, knows my desire to go to Italy, France etc. etc. (I wont bore you with all of my hopes & dreams yet) So this little trip to Quebec was just the quick fix a gal needed to feel Oh So "ooh la la".

So treat yourself and go sometime! You never know....you may do something quite daring like ahhhh, hmmm, errrr... well..... getting your nosed pierced like I did!

(and NO I don't regret it!)
