Not Enough Time......

Well so far we have been out of contol busy and obviously I haven't had much chance to write.

I have been trying to finish a furniture order for a customer as she has a Garden show this weekend, and I will drop off the rest of her wares today. I had to do a china cabinet for her that took 18 hours to complete, but it came out great! Hope she sells it! I Have been trying to squeeze in pieces of my own to sell in my booth.

We are almost finished our rock wall in front of the kitchen windows...all we have to do is plant our shrubs that we bought last week. Sincerely hope I don't kill the shrubs, a customer at the bar owns a landscaping business and he said to FERTILIZE...so we bought the motherload bag of fertilizer!

We have also made a new walkway leading up to the front door from the driveway. Actually I should say we remade the walkway. There was an old rock walkway all ready there, and it was covered with about 2 inches of grass and soil, so I decided to dig it all up, add new loam and replace the rocks. I would assume that  it had been there a good number of years. All I can say about that is my back feels like a truck has run over it about 50 times, but hopefully it will be worth the effort! I thought about planting Creeping Thyme here and there in between the rocks,so maybe it will be a "fragrant" stroll to the front door!

I know Jon thinks I am nuts, but I also happen to know that's why he loves me so!

Will take pictures when I have the time!

A New Life

Hi Nana....hope all went well with the operation!

Just wanted to share a piece I painted that will go in my booth at our local antique shop. I bought it last year at a yard sale for $20.00 and it was black and red, painted to look like a ladybug. Decided it needed an update!

Cottage Chic Dropleaf Table

Update your old furniture, or give a good used piece a new life! DON'T THROW IT OUT! Try to look at it in a new light!

SAND your piece basically to get off the old shiny finish

PRIME it with 1-2 coats of oil or acrylic primer

GET artsy!

TOP off with a poly to keep it protected

And VOILA!!

Bathing Beauties

Giving our two dogs a bath is an experience that will make you want to wait for warmer weather so you can do it outside, yet the smell will finally take over and win, force you to do the right thing, and do the bath tub scrub down.

Notice Rudy's obvious misery...the dog who loves the water...loves to swim...loves everything about the water, until it's bath time. You might not want to look at the disgusting water at her feet...that's just many trips to the swamp so far this spring.

We have to pick Dakota up and place her in the tub as she refuses to even get in! She will also try to sneak off as Rudy is getting her bath. Rudy will gloat the whole time Dakota's getting her bath.

It's very early in the A.M. and still only 28 degrees out. Must dress in layers, and good boots as the ground is still wet. A hat wouldn't be a bad idea either. Should bring some tissues and water...maybe a snack. Get empty cases with newspaper from the shed. Is street map still in the car? Ah crap, didn't gas up the truck last night, I'm slipping!

oh oh.....Posting twice in one day obviously means that I am putting off painting a bunch of pink tulips on a piece of furniture, but it's so hard to get into the mood when it is so cold and dreary outside today. To get myself into a "flowery" state of mind I decided to go over to You Grow Girl and wanted to share....

What a great site full of info. and fun! You can send friends e cards here

You can change your wall paper here

And there are lots of fun recipes and crafts from your garden's bounty here

Plus lots more!

OK, so the Maine Black Bears did not win the tournament Sat. night, but they still kicked butt and gave it their best shot! Right? Right!

We still had fun at the slumber party, (even though I was the only one to spend the night), but managed to stay up to some ungodly hour, eat and drink too much anyway. Driving straight to your Mother in law's for Easter breakfast the next morning is not a recommended.

I guess I am going to have to paint furniture for the next two days as some lady swooped in my booth at River Edge Antiques and bought ALL I had. I'm not complaing mind you, but I am in the middle of painting furniture for two of my clients and really didn't need the extra work this week. I did get up at 6:00 yesterday morning and painted pink Peonies on a white vanity desk and threw it my booth on the way to my bar tending job (which by the way was a double shift) and told the gal that runs the shop not to put anything on it because it's not dry. I think they think I'm a scatterbrain! It's called too much to do with too little time! Story of my life.

SLUMBER PARTIES

Tonight I am off to my girlfriend Suzy's slumber party. My girlfriend Judy hosted one a couple of months ago. There were 6 of us at Judy's, and we all brought food, drink, pillows and blankets. I brought materials to make marble magnets. Judy, who owns her own hair salon had picked up some fabulous facial masks, face wash, lotions etc. etc. for us. She also has a wax machine, that you can heat up this scented wax to dip your hands and feet into repeatedly. It was soothing and left your hands and feet feeling so smooth! She also knitted us each a cute flower shaped face cloth to wash the facial masks off and picked us up each a head band to hold our hair back. Needless to say we all had a ball. We ended the night all tucked in on air mattresses and the couch with movies. I guess I snore.

For tonight at Suzy's she has had us all send pictures through email so we can iron them an to mouse pads that she ordered. We will have lots of different food and drink and will probably end the night with the usual GIRLY movies that we know our hubbies/boyfriends would probably fall asleep to! I am looking forward to it!

I am having mine in May and decided that it would be fun to make some natural care products. I was searching for Sugar Scrubs and found this fun site with tons of recipes. This site also contains lots of craft projects. They also sell a lot of natural products you would buy to make candles, potpourri, facial products etc. Rebeccas Soap Delicatessan. Check it out!

All though we will be doing the "girly" thing tonight, you can bet we will have the Maine Black Bears Hockey game on tonight! This is the biggie and we wouldn't miss it for the world!

MAINE BLACK BEARS RULE!

O.K. now that I've gotten that out of the way I wanted to let you all know that the new Spring Issue of Knitty is out! Lots of fun and light projects for Spring! Know anyone with a little girl? Than you might want to check out this adorable dress. There is great tank called the Honeymoon Cami that I could so see my friend Judy wearing!

I guess it's about time to graduate from scarfs. I always look at these patterns and dream, but just haven't had the time to learn anything new! Come on Judy, let's pick something new and Go For It! (kinda' like the Maine Black Bears did last night)

I would like to make myself a lacy and light weight shawl for Summer. Something to drape over a strappy dress as Maine nights in the summer can be breazy, especially along the coast.

All of you Maine Black Bear Hockey fans cross your fingers this Saturday It's "The Big One"

Well it was a busy and fun weekend!

My youngest sister Marissa, just moved home back to Maine after living in the Dominican Republic for WAY TOO LONG. With her she brought home her wonderful husband Eduardo and their beautiful 10 month old baby, Gabe. It has been a blast getting to know Ed! He had never been to the U.S. before and we are hoping that he settles into the many cultural differences here. And of course Maine has it's own set of rules and cultural differences as it is... My husband Jon has been working hard to introduce Ed to the finer things in life here in Maine. Talking about fishing, watching Nascar, standing around his new boat and staring at it longingly. I'm sure Ed will pick up all of the neccesary things he needs to know!

So of course I have to show off yet another child in my life....

Little Gabe, almost 10 months

Isn't he stunning? We think so!
