Does anyone know why my pictures don't always load up? Is it the picture host? Jeffy or Beth are you out there?
Well, we all made it home alive from out rainy weekend trips! The boys caught fish in Rangely, ate lots of food and (I can only assume) drank lots of beverages to keep warm. Yes my man is hardcore and will fish in the rain, wind and even snow if he has to. Apparently the new boat is a dream in rough weather and has passed yet another test!
Mom and I managed to fill her van with goodies even though it pretty much poured non stop! We lucked out and hit some church sales that were indoors, and managed to find stuff on Friday morning on the way to Mass. Since "shabby chic" is my big seller at the shop I was thrilled to find some of these items....
Vintage white wicker plant stand, shabby green rocker, 2 white wicker chairs, victorian plates with roses, lovely oak stand, victorian lace up boots, FREE vintage fabric, lacey tablecloths, 2 white wrought iron chairs with mosaic seats, big antique laundry basket and a few "paintables". But the BIG find was a beautiful art deco cobalt vase with sterling silver overlay in an apple blossom pattern. I paid a dollar for it and will save it for the fall to put on Ebay. A dealer came up to the van as I was packing up my wares and asked if I would be interested in selling it, and I said "no, I think I'll take it home and research it" (so you know it was a great find!!)
On a different note I have been linked for the first time! Thankyou Kathleen from Liquid Sky Arts for your kind words and for adding me as a "crafty person" on your beautiful site! You're my first! Hahahahaha!
Another exciting bit of news is that my girlfriend Judy and I have rented a cottage in Tenants Harbor for a week in August. It is an area that is filled to the brim with local artists and galleries! There is an Island called Monhegan Island that is also full of local artists that we can take a ferry to. Lots of hiking, kayaking and great little restaurants as well. We have a deck that over looks the water and I plan on doing some serious sketching! Can't wait...so much to look forward to this summer!
Ok....so I get up with Big Daddy this morning at 4:00 am to see him off on the big fishing trip and decide to do a little sufin' on the net since there is no way in Hell I will ever fall back to sleep and I discover this great site.
Check out her DIY projects and well everything else she's up too!
I absolutely adore her cigar box purses in the DIY section and can't wait to create one! Anyone who knows me and has seen my huge paper collection in my studio KNOWS my little paper fetish that I have! I thought those wooden boxes that Wine comes in would also make cool purses as well!
Am off to do some major antiquing with Mom in Mass. this weekend....hope we fill her van like we have done in previous years! Can't wait to fill my booth at River Edge with lots of new goodies! My furniture is still selling rapidly and am hearing the most lovely compliments from the owners! I am so freakin' glad I went for it and took a chance! Now we wait and hold our breath for the Summer Tourists! Though I will say the locals have been wonderfully supportive of the shop....much appreciated!
Will fill you all in after the weekend.....Mom promises a FAB dinner in Mass. Friday night....HMMM....Lobster? Seafood Alfredo? Get your purse out Nancy!
The dreaded tea table is finally done! When I found this piece at a flea market it literally screamed at me to take it home....I mean it was so damn cute on wheels and with it's own little glass serving tray....imagine the cocktails you could serve up on that baby! Well Jolene wasn't exactly thrilled when she had to scrape and sand layers of old paint....I had to use about 3 layers of oil based primer....sanding in between each coat. Anyhoo, you get the picture!
Jolene's still smilin'

Apple Blossom Tea Tray was inspired by...well the apple trees blossoming in my backyard.

It's heading to the shop today, hope it finds a good home!

Just received this flashy picture of my niece & nephew, Madeline & Connor.
Who wouldn't show them off?

Recently I had an oppurtunity to babysit Gabe....all went well & we had a ball! He's such a HAM!
Sustenance was nice enough to post a Rhubarb Pecan Muffin Recipe for all of us who will soon have enough Rhubarb in our gardens to feed an army. Click on her link and check it out! Thanks!
Yummy! Can't wait to try this recipe for Tortilla Soup by Sustenance who is another MO'TIME Blogger. It is under The February Archives. There are also lots of other interesting recipes, but the ingredients to the soup are going on this weeks grocery list!
We worked all day yesterday on trying to finish up the front of the house. Painted trim and the stairs, planted the new shrubs and sprinkled grass seed all over the bare spots on the front lawn. Do believe those bare, dead spots would be from the dogs peeing all over the place! YUCK! Does anyone have a cure for this? Someone told me to sprinkle lime, which we did over the grass seed we planted. Don't these dogs know that there are acres and acres of field and woods out back....I mean wouldn't they want a little privacy?
Check Keri out, she'll make you laugh!
When my girlfriend Judy moved her hair salon Expressions across the street, she gave me this big mirror that she no longer needed. I know, I know, once again I didn't take a "before" picture! It was actually painted a nice shade of green, but all I could think of was "Maine Seaside Cottage" when I saw it. This is the second mosaic piece I've done......

But of course Weezie is checking herself out!

I went to a housewarming party that was being held for my cousin Trisha last Sunday and was thrilled to see the lovely little home they have built for themselves on this lovely little piece of property in Greene, Maine. I got to hang out with their lovely two boys and I must say that after spending the day with my entire family I just had a lovely, warm fuzzy feeling inside as I drove home. Family is definetly the best.
Anyhoo, at the party my Sis Marissa let me know that she has faithfully kept checking my Blog and was basically getting tired of seeing the last entry I wrote well over a week ago. I kind of got the same feeling from my sister Jen in Georgia and decided that there are at least 2 people that I know that are actually interested in what I've been up to, so I had better make some time and post something!
I thought I'd show off this cool t-shirt I just ordered from Cafepress.com. Feeling only slightly guilty, I knew the 2 sisters (who can often be my partners in crime when it comes to shopping) (well OK Mom, we may have to include you on that list as well) would cheer me on and tell me "Oh how you deserved that t-shirt"! You see, all of my hard earned cash that I have been making lately has either gone to shrubs, paint, grass seed etc. OR to just plain ole paying the bills (and making extra payments on the Jeep etc.) OR reinvesting in inventory and painting supplies for the business. Now I am not complaining mind you....I wouldn't want to be the sort of person who cries poverty all of the time, but I have a hard time justifying the purchasing of things like CLOTHES & MAKEUP... a girls best friend yet worst enemy. I am the sort of person who will still use the last bit of crumbly blusher that's left in the compact case, but will buy pricey, juicey bones for my dogs every week.
Well now that I got that out of my system I realize I don't feel guilty at all and I really want that cool T-shirt! So click on the link above and let me know what you think!
