Just to show you all that I really have been in the studio toiling away like a little worker bee.
here is just a peek of a secret project.
Sorry, that's all you get!

We have been Flickr friends for what seems like a long time now, and even though I don't always get the time to comment, I can drool any old time....
Lilia is a beautiful & artistic mother living in Arizona. She thrifts and creates, thrifts and creates. She's got some beauties for sale at her Etsy shop... (I'm loving the new Vintage Lens Pins!!!) Her blog is full of beautiful moments, warm thoughts and creative energy!

Here is a sign she made for her studio. It's so fitting for her space!
Thanks to ALL of you who have joined Studio Works! I'm inspired by you everyday!

People ask me why I blog...well excuse me, you don't just find folks like this walking around my old country road, ready to share beautiful art and similar likings to your own. I've got plenty of teenage boys doing burnouts at the bottom of the hill, does that count for anything?

More news...one of the secret projects is starting to take life...it has a heart beat, it's scary and exciting at the same time. All I can do is keep trying to make pretty things and see how it is recieved. I hope all of my bloggy & Flickr friends will forgive me!! I WILL be back with a vengence when I have time! I miss visiting you! But a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!
AND my poor family! I have not seen my Dad in ages!! (DAD....I am ALWAYS thinking of you!!) But he knows what I'm going for. It's all of their fault anyway. When I was a child they encouraged me to be an artist. I always knew that's what I was and what I was supposed to be. I used set up "art shows" in my bedroom at my Dad's, and they would come in and buy my "art" for 5-10 cents. My Mom had me painting found objects at 14, and was selling my stuff in our little hallway on the second floor of our house. Yes, it's all your fault Family.
I know I'm not supposed to apologize for not blogging a lot, or not coming to visit you all. I have seen other girls write how they hate it when people do that, and NO, they will not apologize. Well, I do feel the need to, because I have met some lovely gals, made long lasting friends & have been involved in some very rockus projects. I just want you all to know, that I am here and, well, JUST BUSY! I thought about taking a "bloggy break" as some people do...but nah...I couldn't stand it, I'm just too nosey!
OH...and one more thing, as I type this, I'm blowing my nose, chugging Robitussin and coughing. Can you freakin' believe this crap?? I AM SICK AGAIN!!! WTF? I'm at my wits end.
OK...speaking of busy, I'm heading up to the studio...I've got lots of goodies to make.
I'm finally stealing a bit of time to show off some lovely gifties from my dear bloggy gal pals!

This is a beautiful purse made by Dawn. She gave it to me when I went to NYC. And inside there was a vintage compact in mint condition! She searched to find something that would match the purse, and I can't believe what a perfect match the pair make!
And Miss Giao! WOW....what can I say? The cookbook is super groovy and I ADORE the decopaged bottle! And who doesn't love candles and notebooks...we can never have too many!

Kathleen has spoiled me rotten yet again! Chinese papers & lanterns are fun instant decor!
This deserves a special mention. Another one of Kathleens "Par Avon" pendants. I am now the proud owner of three. I do believe that this is my favorite...though I love them all!
~thankyou lovely friends~

NOTE: I should probably mention that my birthday was back in Feb....but thanks for the well wishes anyway!
The last time I went to NYC we visited the Young Designer's Market in Soho on Prince street. twice.
This time I made it over each day as well, seeing that it's close to the hotel.
Most of my Birthday money that I had saved was happily spent here!

Love this ring purchased from Leo Handcraft. He doesn't have a website, but you can find them at the show. He's a sweetie-pie to talk with!

Natalya Bagrova & boyfriend Timothy Showalter travel the world taking gorgeous photos. Their photography ends up on the cool and comfy Suva clothing line.

I sadly lost the card...but they don't have a website anyway! You can find them at the show. I just loved this big reversable bag...and for only $40.00, I had to have it!

Sparkly butterfly ring made by Dani Zhao. It's beautiful on I tell 'ya!

I grabbed 2 kick-ass t-shirts with graphics designed by Montana Knox. I didn't meet Montana, but I had a great convo with his VERY HIP Mom, Annette. Hopefully they'll be opening their webshop up again in the near future. I'll forever be a loyal customer if they do!
OK...I'm in a hurry to get to work, I'll fill you all in on the rest of trip in my next post! I still have to tell you about the wonderful evening we had with Dawn, Tom and the others.

Gypsy Purple has called out on all of us Gypsy Souls to "live in the moment and dance in the moonlight". So here is a little story about my weekend, inspired by her....
Big Daddy and I were supposed to go to NYC this weeknd, but due to a big ole snowstorm, the flight was cancelled and we have rescheduled the trip for next weekend.
Now, I'm a traveler at heart. I always have been. In the years before I met Jon, I had a very hard time staying still. Some of my friends dubbed me "The Gypsy". I moved from place to place, job to job, and even relationship to relationship. I really do have a restless soul. I have happily settled down here in the country with Jon for the better part of 9 years now. He has captured my heart, but he lets my soul free. He has figured out the riddle to me.
Jon asked to come on this trip, and well, I was surprised. He is a fisherman, happy in his own state, traveling when it has to do with fishing. It has worked for us...I like to hang with my girls when I'm on the road. But he gets bored too, and I think he's ready for a little adventure.
ALL WEEK, I've been planning and thinking about our weekend together. I couldn't wait to go to Dean & Deluca to buy some wine, cheese and bread. I couldn't wait to show him the little that I have learned of NYC so far. I kept thinking about a totally rockus handmade belt that I did not buy the last time, but planned on it this trip. Wanderlust grabbed hold of me like it always does. So what a dissapointment to know our trip was cancelled. But I have to tell you, it was such a good thing in so many ways! I have the flu... (YES, the same one I've had for 18 DAYS NOW!) But for some reason, I got real sick again this weekend. Friday there was terrential rain in NYC. So, I think it's a good thing we rescheduled!
BUT! I woke up Saturday morning with that inner restlessness. (YOU all know what I'm talking about!) It was 5:00 am, and I couldn't sleep. What does a Gypsy Soul do? GO SCAVENGING OF COURSE! Up and out the door I went, with just under an hours drive to the coast of Rockland, I went to another one of my favorite antique co-ops. (NOTE: had to make a quick stop for tissues and Alka Seltzer cold medicine) (romantic, isn't it??) Anyhoo....I needed to get lost in treasures and history for a couple of hours, roaming the aisles and booths, letting my mind wander, waiting for special pieces to call my name. It's always been a wonderful quick fix to chase away that nagging feeling for me.
On the way home, my head was spinning, I had the chills and I was having a hard time keeping my eyes open.
But I have to tell you, I was rewarded....

vintage jewlery, glass buttons, bakelite buttons, cool hardware & old books
So the minute I got home. I headed upstairs to bed for a couple of hours. Jon woke me up around 4:00, and though we were supposed to go visit his Dad, I just couldn't do it. I came downstairs and went straight to my bags of treasures that I had thrown on the kitchen table. That bag of goodies was the first thing I though of after being woken.
And in true Gypsy Spirit I created with my found treasures...

I am not finished....It's time to bring out the old papers and see what I can come up with for that wonderful flat space! It's just DYING to be collaged! I will have some new REVIVED RELICS in the shop by tonight.
While antiquing, I picked up the crystal buttons especially for a secret project I've been involved in. Here is just a sneak peek...

And here you can read JUST A BIT about our project. Through this project, I have met some amazing woman, and a small group of 5 of us made this bracelet for a fellow artist and all around wonderful gal. I'm going to send you over there, because Ruth words everything so perfectly.
So as you can see, that old Gypsy Soul is still within me. I have my ways of feeding it's spirit, to keep it happy and satisfied.
What do you do when your Gypsy Soul calls upon you?
