art, art and more ART!

Lots to fill you in on, so I'm just going to jump right in!

Today, I received my copy of "Ehibition 36: Mixed-Media Demonstrations & Explorations" by Susan Tuttle. It is an UNBELIEVABLE collection of art from 36 amazing artists. MANY of them you know, as I just found out from flipping through the book that there are several bloggy gal pals of mine displaying their works. I am in the book myself, and my heart soars to find that I am in the company of some of these incredible artists!

I love the way Susan combined art with font and design for this book. It's so visually beautiful and jam packed with tutorials.... It's a "must have" if you are just starting to play in mixed media OR if you're an old pro. It doesn't matter... GRAB IT!

Here's a little sneak peek of my article

Susan Tuttle's new book! by you.

THANK-YOU SUSAN for inviting me, it just means more than words can even express at the moment.

I hope you'll go over to Mindy's Wishstudio Blogzine and check out my article "The Confident Artist".  I have collected inspiring words from many talented artists in the blogging community that I think will touch your soul and maybe push you to new artistic heights. It was a hard subject and they were so sweet to share....

While you're there, stay a while, as there is a little something for everyone!

I'm sitting here typing this in bare toes, and guess what? They're cold! It looks like it's time to unleash my new fuzzy socks from Bath and Body. They are so yummy, with rubber dots on the bottom, so as to avoid a spill down my steep stairs!

I've been up in that studio working away on many projects. I've got too many going at once and they are all "almost done".

I've been to Goodwill searching for wool sweaters again. I found a gorgeous purple and a holiday maroon that I still need to felt up. FABULOUS FELT FLOWERS are back for the season!

SOUR GIRL

I've made pretty cards to pin the flowers on from recycled greeting cards and ephemera.

SOUR GIRL by you.

I've also been experimenting with making copies of my one-of-a-kind art work. I want to incorporate the prints into pendants so I can offer my customers some stocking stuffers under $25.00!

THE RAVEN AND THE TOWER

The Raven and the Tower by you.

All of my new pendants will come tucked in a collaged manillla envelope.... perfect for gift giving!

I hope you are all getting your craft on this holiday season!

ODD OBJECTS ~ BEAUTIFUL ART

I just finished my article for Wishstudio Blogzine "The Confident Artist", and am sending it off to Mindy today. I am blown away by the answers and photos people send to me to include in these articles! I know that this particular article was hard for some to put into words, but I was not let down by the entries!!!!!!

I am on to a new subject for next month, and I hope you will participate! Just leave your words here in the comments, along with links to photos of your art.

ODD OBJECTS ~ BEAUTIFUL ART

Because I am constantly on the hunt for old relics to use in my art, it's no surprise that one of my favorite things to do is to sit and view online artists "found-object art". The way people see a little object and turn it into something beautiful always amazes me. Every idea can be original if you strech the imagination. If you gave 10 artists the same antique key to work with, you will more then likely find 10 totally different works of art!

THINK ABOUT THESE QUESTIONS:
*what draws you to a particular found object?
*do you know right off how you will use your object, or does it come later?
*discuss what art process you like to do using found objects...and why
*is your found object the focal point of your art, or just a piece of the puzzle?
*what satisfaction do you gain in using found and odd objects in your work?
*how or why would you encourage others to use found objects in their work?
(BUT AS ALWAYS, SHARE WHAT YOU'D LIKE)

So I hope you will join in on the fun! I unfortunately can't include every participant into the article, but please know that though I search for originality, eloquent words and beauty from within, you are ALL special and creative people in my heart.

SO GET TYPING!
