But seriously I don't mind. It's been like this for two days, and it keeps me in the studio working away. I still have my door wide open and the music flowing.

In the summer my studio gets moved from the upstairs to the downstairs into the sunroom. I still work upstairs, but I do all of the messy stuff up there like cutting and drilling metal.

The sunroom is a bigger space with lots of windows, couches, the deck & some of my favorite collections. Even the washer and dryer, kitchen etc. is just a few steps away, so I feel like I accomplish more on the housework front.

The only problem I encountered last summer was storage. So Big Daddy brought this little bureau down from the spare bedroom. (ummm...I now have nothing to store my extra linens upstairs, but I'll get to that problem at some point!!) The thing about this sunroom, is that we actually use it all summer long for entertaining, sleep-overs, naps & our nightly dinner. So this bureau just made my world so easy! In minutes I can sweep my mess right into it!

I was having trouble making this little corner work as it was, so I'm happy with the result!

So this brings me to a topic I'd like to get your opinions on!

I am writing a monthly column for Mindy's new blog "Wishstudio Blogzine" called "She Dreams of Art". Myfirst column, "Artful Goals" is up now. The main objective of my column is to collect art, info, quotes and certain data on a particular subject. I mention a few of you bloggy gals, show off your art & promote your site!

My next column will be about our studio spaces. Here are some questions I have for you! Answer them all or just pick one or two!

• WHERE exactly do you create?
• WHAT would be your dream studio?

• DO you use new "store bought" storage? OR do you use "found object" storage?

ok, for your questions. i have a room in my apartment that is my office/studio space. it's a bit cramped, but it's wonderful to have a room that's all mine. so i create in my studio space mostly, but sometimes i bring whatever i'm working on out to the t.v. room as i kind of like background noise while I create.

my dream studio would be a large open space with big windows, hardwood floors and tall ceilings. it would have space for workshops as well as space for my own creating and i'd have lots of surfaces to work on.

i'm really not the person to ask about storage as i'm a bit messy. i use a combination of bought and found things for storage. So it's a mix of open tubs that I bought at the container store (easy to see into and tote around the room depending on what i'm working on.) and then I also use old shoe boxes, a picnic basket (from you!), boxes i've received gifts in, and hand decorated boxes to hold things. (can you tell i like boxes?) and I also love pinning things to my inspiration board (which tends to creep off the board onto the wall.)

most of the time, i like to listen to music or podcasts while i'm working. occassionally i'll bring something out to the t.v. room, but not very often. and sometimes i like the quiet. i think i have some random pics of my studio in my flickr pages.

because my studio is full of art, i like to move around the artwork from time to time and change what's hanging on the walls, to bring a new set of inspiration into the room.

My own studio,my dream come true.
It's a spare bedroom in our house. When we first saw this house last year I was amazed that one of the bedrooms had good light,a cathedral ceiling and was pink!!! Obviously, it was waiting for us to come along and buy it. It's filled top to bottom with all of my stuff---a lot of storage drawers,a small jewelers bench, a table in the middle of the room so that everything is convenient and within
reach.
I usually work in a quiet atmosphere.
My computer is in here too. So, I can catch up on Emails and post my jewelry on Etsy. The only thing that I would change at the moment is that I would have a wood floor instead of carpeting. But, that'll probably happen down the road when the carpet is trashed which I'm sure won't be too long. In a word, I must say that having a room of my own is pure BLISS..

Right now my workspace is half of my bedroom (the best half). It's cramped but do-able. I have to be very organized. My dream space would be a separate building but adjacent to my home. Lots of light, wood floors and room to display as well as teach. Sometimes I find just the right container or cabinet new but I prefer to use something old that I can re-purpose. I have a great cabinet that belonged to my Dad that has a million little drawers-perfect for all those little odds and ends.

my "studio" is located in one corner of our ginormous mechanical room. it is filled to the BRIM with all sorts of STUFF...a mess really! i use a combo of built & found storage. the hubby built a giant shelving unit on one wall & a work table out of a kitchen countertop on the opposite wall. i also use a number of storage bins/baskets from target or thrift stores as well as a couple of vintage bureaus. i am too embarrassed to take pix of my studio at present because it is such a FRIGHT, lol...but there should be pix in your flickr group of when it looks in a clean state. i listen to music, cds or my fav radio station. sometimes, i bring in the dvd player & watch movies while i am creating. i find that "noise" gets me going & those creative juices pumping.

am awaiting a laptop prezzie from the hubby, which i am wicked excite 'cuz now i can take anwhere & listen to podcasts or watch youtube! but for now, i have to go to the guest bedroom/office to access our desktop pc. when i need use my big sewing machine (i have a teeny one in the studio), i go to my dining room (which is in right in the middle of the studi & guest room)...so yeah, it's alot of running from room to room when i am in "full creating mode".

it's not the most convenient, but that's my present set-up, so i live with it. my dream studio would actually be a detached cute little cottage-y building a few yards from my garden rooms. it would be built by my very talented dh & tricked out with every possible amenity imaginable (as it will also double as a guesthouse/artist retreat) & built-in storage! & of course, filled will beautiful what-nots, inspirational artwork & other delightful antique finds. i am drooling as i picture my dream studio. so much so that i can't remember your other questions to answer, lol! i hope this will do...

Ah, the studio question. I create in my kitchen. I have taken over a corner. It is the best I can do, I don't particulary like it. I would love a studio where I can close the door on life. It would have a view of the garden and lots and lots of windows, but also lots and lots of wall space. Hmmm, how to do both?
Right now I am using an old shoe rack from a factory. I would like to have storage that I can shut drawers on and let everything have its place. I also want to be able to leave works in progress out.
Right now I have to plan on actually using the kitchen to cook.
Music is a must it brings me into that zone where you forget the time. And of course my animals need to be able to lay around and comment on my work!

Since I mostly have been needlefelting lately I grab enough roving for the day needles wire and whatever I think I need for a project or and hit the cafes, sidewalks and parks. Needefelting is a mysterious temptress that lures in the passerby. My studio is the den officially but my work and supplies linger in several spots. I have a pinata closet. and bags boxes, bins of supplies in the den, spare room and laundry room. I do mean to get organized but I have a project in mind and grab it the supplies. The dolls I create are quite demanding and the jump out of the roving and tell me their tales. I always have an idea of where I'm going but sometimes I take a detour. Thank you for your wonderful blog.
