junquie finds....

My Mom came down a couple of weeks back for lunch, shopping and a cool antique stop. She had made an appointment with a local dealer to go to his home and look at a collection of buttons, and I went along for the ride. Wasn't I in heaven when he pulled out a few boxes of old costume jewelry! I got to sit at their kitchen table and dig for treasures....

This was part of an old vintage bracelet. The ruby red glass captured my eye immediately, as I knew I had a pair of antique earrings at home that would match. I combined the earrings and bracelet findings to come up with this one-of-a-kind piece!

The Dance

THE DANCE altered art NECKLACE with VINTAGE findings and RUBY GLASS accents

I always have a hard time tagging my pieces over at Etsy. I immediately had thought "folk dance" or "river dance", but one of my fabulous Maine Team members Jamie had thought "moulin rouge". I loved her perspective on the piece!

Speaking of Jamie, we are having a craft night at her house Monday night and she is going to teach me how to paint with her handmade encaustic paint cakes. I've been wanting to learn this ever since Leah and the gang came to stay at the house for an art retreat. The jewelry has kept me too busy to do much else, but I am thinking that sometimes I need to just step away and force myself to play in other mediums, if for anything, just to keep the jewelry fresh!
